Advice for
Giant Dogs
e.g. Great Dane, English Mastiff,
Newfoundland, St. Bernard etc.
Has your dog ever almost knocked you over? Gaint breed dogs can be a force to be reckoned with. At the same time, this means they experience size-related issues of their own.

Giant dogs are more likely to have joint issues because of the weight they carry. They should always receive omega-3 and -6 fatty acid supplements to help protect their joints. Consult a veterinarian about other supplements such as chondroitin for joint health.

• Use food appropriate for giant size dogs. Giant dogs generally have slower metabolic rates, which means they require appropriate food and portion sizes to lead a happy, healthy lifestyle.

Prevent your dog from activities such as running, jumping and playing for at least two hours after eating. Giant dogs are at risk of a painful form of bloating called GDV, which can not only make them very uncomfortable but also be a danger to their health.

• Make sure your dog is not overweight. When giant dogs are overweight, they experience immense pressure and wear & tear of their joints, which leads to pain and health issues.
This is pretty cool, right?
